Summary
Monarda ‘ACrade’ is solid under the trade name Grand Parade™ and exhibits excellent powdery mildew resistance. A lack of vigor was a common complaint among compact cultivars this size; however Grand Parade™ proved exceptionally robust. Perhaps because of this, Grand Parade™ was also the first Monarda to develop a hole in the center of the mass. This is common for bee balm as the clumps enlarge, though it was interesting that Grand Parade™, a compact selection, was the first to do so. The only other issue with this cultivar is that its bloom period is approximately one week shorter than the average bee balm, but this characteristic was common among many dwarf cultivars.
