Summary
Carolina Moonlight false indigo –(Baptisia ‘Carolina Moonlight’) is a long-lived, vigorous, and easy to grow shrubby perennial that produces soft buttery yellow, pea-like flowers that are borne in late May on 18” long spikes. These are displayed on 3-4’ tall plants with blue green trifoliate foliage. The best flowering occurs in full sun in average to dry, well-drained soil. Combine Carolina Moonlight false indigo in the perennial border or meadow garden with Purple Smoke false indigo (Baptisia ‘Purple Smoke’), Pink Profusion Bowman’s root (Gillenia trifoliata ‘Pink Profusion’), little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium), switchgrass (Panicum virgatum), swamp milkweed (Asclepias incarnata), black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida), and spike gayfeather (Liatris spicata). Zones 4-9.
