Group Visits and Tours

We can accommodate almost any size of group, with a group admission rate of $14 per person for groups of 10 or more.

  • Our gardens are open for group visits during our regular visitation season. The 2020 visitation season has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Find updates about our response to the pandemic here.
  • Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Peak times fill quickly.
  • Call 302.239.8807 or email groupsales@mtcubacenter.org to make a reservation.
  • Please send us your group’s final participant count and payment two weeks prior to the date of your visit.
  • Accessibility: Due to our rolling terrain and mulched paths, wheelchair access is limited. Golf cart transportation to the Ponds and back is available upon request. Find more details about our accessibility and terrain on our Accessibility page.
  • Bus parking is available, but require prior notice so that we can make proper accommodation and turn-around space in our parking lot.

Self-Guided Visits are ideal for groups who prefer to explore the gardens and grounds at their own pace during regular hours. Mt. Cuba Center ambassadors are located throughout the gardens to provide information and answer questions.

See spectacular displays of native plants in bloom, get design ideas for your own landscape, and learn how Mt. Cuba applies ecological gardening practices to work with nature, not against it.

Lectures

Learn about what Mt. Cuba Center does best—native plants! Get some great suggestions for your home landscape from our gardening experts. Lectures last one hour and can be added to group visits for $99. Inquire about topics upon scheduling to select from a variety of seasonal options.

Green Thumb Tour

Immerse yourself in the beauty and benefits of native plants on this two-hour, in-depth tour of Mt. Cuba’s formal and naturalistic gardens. Learn about the research being conducted in our trial garden to help bring the best-performing natives to local nurseries. Talk with a guide about our extensive native plant collections while receiving useful tips on sustainable gardening practices.

Hayride Highlights Tour

Sit back and relax on this one-hour guided hayride through our Natural Lands. Our hay wagon travels through rolling hills and grassland fields, where you’ll experience stunning vistas while learning about Mt. Cuba’s approach to natural land management and conservation. Perfect for groups who like to take in the seasonal scenery in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Hayride and Hike Experience

Hitch a hayride deep into our Natural Lands before adventuring on foot for a behind-the-scenes experience of Mt. Cuba’s wilder side. Hike with a friendly and knowledgeable guide to the far corners of the property and discover how Mt. Cuba applies “gardening on a higher level” in natural areas. Learn about our ever-evolving land management strategies, conservation efforts, and the state of our restoration projects. Be prepared to hike gently sloping paths and navigate some uneven terrain.

Two Hours, $4 per person in addition to garden admission

Mt. Cuba Center has an exclusive selection of native plants available for sale onsite. Ask about the option for each member of your group to take home a native plant! Complete your experience with a delicious meal, including breakfast, lunch, tea, or a wine and cheese reception. Room rentals are available for meetings or luncheons, subject to availability.
