Summary
Phlox × procumbens ‘Pink Profusion’ is a hybrid between Phlox subulata (moss phlox) and Phlox stolonifera (creeping phlox). This cultivar performed fairly well in our trial, producing robust mounds of foliage and an excellent floral display each year of the trial. However, significant defoliation caused by powdery mildew was consistently observed each summer. Although one of its parents (creeping phlox) prefers shady sites, its other parent (moss phlox) prefers a sunny location. As such, powdery mildew might have been less severe if trialed in a environment that received more direct sunlight.
