Coreopsis ‘Heaven’s Gate’

2 Photos

Summary

Coreopsis ‘Heaven’s Gate’ was selected as a sport of Coreopsis ‘Sweet Dreams’ for its white flowers with a dark pink eye that bloom from June through August. Unfortunately only one plant survived the first winter. Three other similar plants that grew in the places of the originals were eventually determined to be seedlings whose flower color was more like Coreopsis rosea. Because the seedlings were identified so late in the second year, no replacements were planted.  However, given how similarly the related cultivars of ‘Heaven’s Gate’, ‘Sweet Dreams’ and ‘Dream Catcher’ performed, it is likely that they would not have survived through the end of the trial.
