Coreopsis ‘Center Stage’

3 Photos

Summary

Coreopsis ‘Center Stage’ is one of two red flowered cultivars in our trial (‘Mercury Rising’ being the other). Its mounding habit and lacy foliage is very similar to C. ‘ Moonbeam’ and C. ‘Show Stopper’, however, ‘Center Stage’ seemed to be much less vigorous. This cultivar was also prone to flopping, usually starting in midsummer. Powdery mildew was observed several times, though it was not visually obvious on such finely dissected leaves. Despite these flaws, ‘Center Stage’ reliably overwintered each year which made it the better red-flowered cultivar in our trial.
