Summary
Occurring in wetlands in eastern North America, Carex folliculata struggled in the average soils of the Trial Garden, particularly when grown in full sun. This species would be best suited for gardens in wet shade. In ideal conditions this species produces attractive yellow-green foliage and showy flowers and fruit featuring inflated grain-like perigynea.
