Summary
Baptisia tinctoria did not make a meaningful landscape impact over the four year trial. The plants are airy, bordering on wispy, and the floral display just isn’t showy enough to garner high marks. Inflorescences are borne on the tips of each stem like most Baptisia, but they are positioned all around the perimeter of the plant, rather than just at the top, giving it a very informal look. To be fair we only looked at one accession of this species, and there may be better representatives out there.
