Coreopsis ‘Garnet’

3 Photos

Summary

CoreopsisGarnet’ begins to flop just as it comes into bloom.  Half of the group was cut back in mid-July in order to evaluate whether doing so can extend the period of bloom.  Cutting the plants back by half did improve their habit.  In fact, the cutback plants were able to remain upright for the rest of the season.  However, there was little new growth after being pruned and the flowering period was not improved.  ‘Garnet’ also had one of the worst incidences of powdery mildew in 2013.
