Native Plants

Large Flower Tickseed

3 Photos

Summary

An explosion of summer color makes this unusual form of tickseed a “must have” in the hot, sunny and dry portion of your garden. Large flower tickseed is a sprawling form of the perennial deciduous species. Bright yellow daisy-like flowers 1½-2” wide with yellow centers appear continuously from late spring until mid-autumn. Coreopsis grandiflora var. inclinata grows up to 1’ tall and spreads up to 2’ wide. It makes a very effective summer perennial groundcover for the sunny dry border edge or rock garden. It is an excellent companion for Liatris microcephala, Phemeranthus teretifolius, Opuntia humifusa, Silene virginica, Bigelowia nuttallii, Penstemon canescens and other drought loving plants.
