Summary
Green-and-gold is a marvelous semi-evergreen perennial groundcover that enlivens the garden with delightful masses of small, daisy-like yellow flowers during spring and then sporadically throughout the summer. Chrysogonum virginianum also serves as a foundation for other plants from woodland settings to pond edges or rock gardens. It performs well in shade to part sun and well-drained soils that are acidic to neutral. As a companion, green-and-gold is quite versatile and works well with a wide array of plants including Spigelia marilandica, Aquilegia canadensis, Cypripedium parviflorum, Tiarella cordifolia, Gentiana clausa and Dodecatheon meadia.
