Hockessin, Dela. (August 2020) — Mt. Cuba Center receives a Top Workplaces 2020 honor by The News Journal for the second year in a row, attributing an engaged organizational culture as a leading driver for winning this award.
The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage, LLC. The anonymous survey uniquely measures 15 drivers of engaged cultures that are critical to the success of any organization including alignment, execution, and connection, just to name a few.
“The quality of Mt. Cuba’s culture has never been as critical or as evident as it has in 2020,” said Jeff Downing, Mt. Cuba’s executive director. “Fortunately, our strong core values help us navigate uncharted territory together.”
This spring, Mt. Cuba Center made the commitment not to furlough or lay off any employees because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Garden gates were temporarily closed while social distancing measures were put in place in the spring. Teams and staff have pivoted to remain committed to achieving success during this time and transitioned classes to virtual when in-person gathers are not recommended. In July, Mt. Cuba ’s garden was voted The Best Botanic Garden in North America by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
“In times of great change, it is more important than ever to maintain a connection among employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward based on real-time insights into what works best for your organization. The Top Workplaces program can be that positive outcome your company can rally around in the coming months to celebrate leadership and the importance of maintaining an employee-focused culture, even during challenging times.”
Mt. Cuba Center is hiring talented, enthusiastic professionals we can help develop into tomorrow’s leaders. Explore employment opportunities here: mtcubacenter.org/employment.
About Mt. Cuba Center
With paths taking guests from the formal gardens of a du Pont mansion through lush woodlands and picturesque meadows with stunning vistas, Mt. Cuba Center is a botanical garden that puts the beauty of native landscapes on display to inspire conservation. What began in the 1930s as the private estate of Mr. and Mrs. Lammot du Pont Copeland is now a public garden that highlights the beauty and value of native plants. In addition to cultivating the public garden’s formal and naturalistic landscapes, Mt. Cuba Center staff conduct research, connect guests to the natural world, and teach students about native plant gardening. Learn more at mtcubacenter.org.
