Have you discovered one of the most scenic drives in Delaware yet? The Red Clay Scenic Valley Byway is a network of secondary roads located roughly between routes 48 and 52 in Delaware. With woodlands, meadows, wetlands, and various attractions, it’s a beautiful and interesting drive.
The Red Clay Scenic Valley Byway is unique from other byways because it is based on not just a single roadway but is comprised of 28 secondary roads within the Red Clay Creek watershed. This byway is the first in the U.S. to be based on the watershed model, which helps the community protect the water quality of the Red Clay Creek. The designation is used not just to promote visitation to the area, but as a tool to preserve and protect the unique qualities and beauty of the surrounding environment.
Saturday, September 9, 2023, is the first ever Red Clay Day, which aims to promote awareness of the Red Clay Scenic Valley Byway and the attractions along the way. Take the day to discover this beautiful area!
